10th annual Chickin’, Peelin’ and Politickin’ looks different during COVID-19 pandemic

SPRINGDALE, EMMA. A FEW HUNDRED PEOPLE FILLED SHILOH SQUARE TONIGHT THEY ATE CHICKEN AND TALKED WITH LOCAL AND STATE POLITICIANS AHEAD OF NEXT MONTH’S ELECTION. I’M JUST SO TIRED OF ZOOM MEETINGS AND BEING STUCK IN THE OFFICE AND ON THE PHONE AND JUST WANTED TO GET OUT AND TRY TO BE NORMAL AGAIN. THEY HAVE SHRIMP POLITICIANS CHICKEN CHICKEN PEELING AND POLITIC AND IS AN EVENT THAT’S UNIQUE IN THE STATE OF ARKANSAS. THIS YEAR’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION LOOKED A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. USUALLY THIS EVENT IS HELD UNDER THE PAVILION BEHIND ME, BUT THIS YEAR THEY SET UP TENTS ALL ACROSS WALTER TURNBOW PARK TO HELP WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING EVERYONE AT THE EVENT WAS OUR TO WEAR A MASK WHEN THEY WEREN’T EATING OR DRINKING AND SOCIAL DISTANCING SIGNS WERE PUT UP ACROSS THE VENUE AS A REMINDER TO STAY SAFE GOVERNOR ASA HUTCHINSON. SPOKE AT TONIGHT’S EVENT AND SEVERAL OTHER POLITICIANS TALKED WITH THEIR CONSTITUENTS. WE TALKED TO LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR TIM GRIFFIN WHO ISN’T ON THE BALLOT THIS YEAR BUT IS RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR IN 2022. IT’S JUST A GREAT EVENT. AND IF YOU’RE GONNA YOU’RE GONNA REPRESENT PEOPLE AS AN ELECTED OFFICIAL YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT THEY’RE THINKING AND WHAT’S GOING ON. THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO FIND OUT JUST ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE NO. TIMBER ELECTION VOTERS AT THE EVENT SAY IT WAS NICE TO SEE THE POLITICIANS IN PERSON AND TO GET A REMINDER OF WHAT THEY ARE ALL ABOUT BEFORE THEY HIT THE POLLS. I THINK IT’S JUST GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO SEE PEOPLE AND AND IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS YOU CAN TALK TO HIM ABOUT THEM AND I THINK YOU KNOW, THERE’S A LOT OF THINGS TO TALK ABOUT THESE DAYS ALREADY. HAVE A GOOD IDEA WHAT’S GOING ON NATIONALLY, BUT NEITHER BETTER IDEA WHAT’S GOING ON LOCALLY AND THIS AREA AND YOU KNOW, ESPECIALLY COVID AND ITS EFFECTS A LOT OF BUSINESSES A LOT OF PEOPLE IN A LOT OF DIFFERENT WAYS. SPRINGDALE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SAYS IT WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TONIGHT’S EVENT SAFELY WITH MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCIN
