The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year Campaign had its grand finale celebration on Friday night. The Student of the Year Campaign is a six- to eight-week initiative in which nominated high school students, or teams of two or three students, participate in a fundraising challenge to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Candidates raise money in honor of a young, local patient hero who is battling or in remission from a blood cancer. The candidate or team who raises the most money at the end of the program is named Student of the Year for their local chapter. There were 15 teams that competed in this year’s campaign. Two of the 15 teams were able to raise over $100,000. The teams were “Warriors For a Cure” from Mariemont and “Krazies Krushing Cancer” from Turpin. A total of $743,975 was raised, breaking the previous record of $640,000 for Students of the Year Cincinnati.The winner was Krazies Kicking Cancer, after they raised a total of $117,285. All of the money will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which goes to research, financial aid, patient services and more!
